For those new to this page, and for our foodie fans who already know us; we have no qualms visiting and reviewing the ever-growing number of well known, national restaurant chains entering the Rio Grande Valley. Thanks to their entry into our market, we get to enjoy “ethnic cuisines” that we’d otherwise never get to experience and taste first hand. But, because we love and prefer to patronize local restaurants, we hold these chains to higher standards - they have the money, knowledge, and economies of scale, that make it difficult for us to cut them slack, and not hold them accountable. Are we saying don’t go? On the contrary, definitely go, but be advised, their attention to detail, and service, is inconsistent. We’ve been loyal customers for over five years, and normally, we never complain. But when a chain allows service to otherwise affect a more favorable review – “foodies” need to know!

So, what can you expect at Rodizios Grill? Folks, this is a “Meat Lovers” paradise! If you love meat, this is by far the best value for the money – no holds barred. You can spend between 20 and 30 bucks for a good steak somewhere in the valley, but that’s all you’re going to get. If you’re hungry, really hungry, and in the mood to splurge on some decent cuts of seasoned meats, prepared and served authentically, then it’s time for you to experience a Brazilian Steakhouse – otherwise known as “Churrascaria” - Texans will simply call it what it is - A good ole barbecue house.

This dining bonanza features an unending rotation of over a dozen rotisserie grilled meats, traditionally prepared and masterfully seasoned. These cuts are carried from the grill, and served/sliced at the table on three-foot-long skewers by servers dressed as Brazilian Gauchos. Each table gets a green and red, oblong wooden block, that signals the server when to approach - green side up means "go" - red side up means “stop”. Either way you feast until you’re good and ready; servers come around every few minutes, and If you want some of what they have, all you have to do is signal, and they’ll carve a few slices right on your plate. If you think about it, you can eat a lot more without feeling full this way, because the pace is a lot slower, than if you had just a big steak spread across the plate.

Among the commonly served meats are Maminha (Tri-Trip Sirloin), Fraldinha (Bottom Sirloin that pairs perfectly with their homemade chimichurri), Bife com Parmesão (Center Cut Steak topped with parmesan), Sobre Coxa (Boneless Chicken Thigh that’s marinated with garlic wine sauce), Frango Com Bacon (Chicken Breast wrapped in bacon), Cordeiro (Boneless Leg of Lamb), Lombo Com Queijo (Pork Loin with parmesan and bacon) and Linguiça (Mild Brazilian Sausage), and even more…But reigning supreme, above all others, is their Picanha (Top Sirloin) - without a doubt our favorite cut. On your first visit we suggest you try everything, so many choices, so many wonderful flavors, and all you have to do is ask.

Rodizio Grill also features unlimited appetizers and a generous salad bar. Yes, even vegetarians and fish eaters can join in on this experience, and likely find a full meal’s worth of tasty food between the salad bar and side dishes. Of course, they have a well-stocked bar, and a vibe that’s down-to-earth and easy to digest.

Otherwise, there’s not much else to consider: You go for either the Unlimited Gourmet Salad Bar for $18.99 – or – the “Full Rodizio” with Unlimited Brazilian Sides, Gourmet Salads, and Rotisserie Grilled meats for $28.99 -  You decide - but when it’s all said and done, you’ll be back – just remember – the service may not always be great, but the food is always good.
